See An Entire Action Scene From Spider-Man 4 With The Vulture

Sam Raimi was initially set to continue his universe with one of Marvel’s most iconic superheroes with Spider-Man 4. Unfortunately, the project was canceled, and since that time, we have had Sony bring the character back in The Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield and the animated movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. On top of that, Marvel has its thing going with Homecoming, Far From Home, and the upcoming Spider-Man 3: No Way Home. With an animated video of the concept art from the shelved blockbuster, we have an idea of how one scene could have played out.
Originally posted on Vimeo by storyboard artist David E. Duncan and later reposted on YouTube by user CyberSonic, we get to see the violent fight that would have taken place in Spider-Man 4. The brawl would pit the neighborhood-friendly hero against one of his most iconic villains, Vulture, who would have been played by John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire). See the scene below.
The video of Spider-Man 4 is one of plenty of other animatics he created. It is a blend of storyboards and previsualized digital animations. The battle scene would have been set for the climax of the movie.
The known horror director turned superhero movie mastermind was gearing up to make Spider-Man 4. Outside of Malkovich as Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, fans would have seen Toby Maguire’s web-slinger meet with Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) as Felicia Hardy, better known as Black Cat. Then things went wrong, leading to it getting canned and nobody getting to see that animatic get turned into a reality.
Reportedly, producer Avi Arad talked Sam Raimi into getting Venom in the third movie. The installment would end up being panned for plenty of reasons, one of which was its abundance of characters and the execution of bringing them to the big screen. Sam Raimi did not love the character that is an icon to the fans, and it showed through the final product when it hit theaters back in 2007.
In 2008, Sam Raimi teamed up with screenwriter James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) to figure out Spider-Man 4. He was getting the whole cast back together and going to introduce Vulture. Studio interference came in as they wanted Lizard to be a part of the film. Tired of working on it and unhappy with how the story is turning out, the Evil Dead director left. Thus Sony decided to go for a reboot, where we would see Lizard appear as portrayed by Rhys Ifans (Snowden).
While we have a look at what could have been for Spider-Man 4, maybe the artist will give us more to chew on. Whether that comes or not, fans have gotten plenty of Peter Parker and the other variants in recent years. Spider-Verse was a hit, with a sequel in the works. No Way Home has rumors circulating that it might crossover into the other universes that Sony developed, which was partially confirmed when Alfred Molina detailed his return as Doc Ock, who was last seen in Sam Raimi’s beloved Spider-Man 2.
