Vin Diesel Getting A Revealing Storyline In New Fast & Furious Movies?
There might be a new storyline for Vin Diesel in the final two Fast & Furious movies which would really wrap up the franchise narrative

Vin Diesel will be wrapping up his role in the Fast & Furious franchise over the next couple of years and is currently crushing the box office with his latest turn in that world. But it looks like the franchise will be exploring a new thread with upcoming movies that could lend some much-needed background to his Dom Toretto character. Insider Daniel Richtman has it that part of the story arc for the coming two movies in the franchise will include some background on Dom’s parents lending some context for how he became the current version of the character.
While this is only a rumor, it makes total sense for the trajectory of where these Fast & Furious movies have been going. With this latest film bringing in John Cena to play Jakob Toretto, the brother of Vin Diesel it lends the idea that his family history has many more secrets to explore and that the background here could help bring some of the current franchise threads to a close. Is it a stretch to believe that we are just hearing and seeing these other family members now and maybe in the future? Of course, but that ridiculous and sublime nature of the franchise is what’s made it incredibly entertaining over the years. They continue to build a backstory basically out of thin air.
If the next two movies in the Fast & Furious franchise are what brings Vin Diesel some closure, then the exploration of family and where he comes from is likely paramount. We already have a sense of some of Dom’s background from previous films when his father, Jack, was supposedly killed in a racing accident that happened when Dom was only a kid. I say “supposedly” only because the Fast & Furious franchise hasn’t had a problem retconning deaths in the past in order to get characters back on screen. If you found out Dom’s dad was still alive would it surprise you even in the slightest?
And yes, family has been at the core of the themes for Vin Diesel and the Fast & Furious franchise from the very beginning. Though the discussion around family has worked its way mostly into the makeshift group they’ve created over the years, it’s clearly at the forefront of how the world has maintained. Jakob Toretto entering the mix now only lends to the idea that they want to complete the story of the Toretto’s before it’s all said and done.
Before they get to any of this, Vin Diesel and company are having a moment again with their current movie, F9 which hit theaters a couple of weeks ago. It’s been crushing the box office, earning over $500 million worldwide, becoming the first true post-pandemic flick for the industry. They’ve created just the type of movie that draws huge theater crowds with the combination of massive stunts, ever-escalating action sequences, and a story just loose enough to thread throughout the franchise. It’s a set of popcorn movies though and through.
The next two Fast & Furious movies are set to be the final ones for Vin Diesel who will bring Dom’s story to a close and effectively end the arcs of this original crew. Though the franchise name will move on with additional spin-off movies, this will be the end for Dom and his family. Maybe we see his parents before it is all said and done.
