Not like anyone’s counting here, but in an alternate timeline (one without a pandemic), we’d be right around the corner from a Spider-Man: No Way Home release. Alas, it will be a few more months before we get Tom Holland back on the big screen in the Spidey garb. But what about those duds? We might have gotten an early glimpse of the updated Spider-man suit in a rather unlikely place, a toy box.
The recent possible leak came via a new Lego set related to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was uploaded to Twitter via user @spideysnews and gives a little look at what we might be getting for Tom Holland in this next movie. There are some changes from what we’ve seen in the past, but a lot of carryover from previous films as well. Check it out:
If this is truly the suit for Tom Holland as Peter Parker in the next Spider-Man movie, then it looks like we are getting an update on the Iron Spider suit he donned for the first time in Spider-Man: Homecoming. While that movie featured more than a little on boarding where the suit was concerned, it also presented a new look from what he’d been wearing when first introduced in Captain America: Civil War. It was an update on the more traditional look, in both technical advancements, but also the spider emblem and more robotic feel to the creases and seams.
This one appears to be in line with that suit though some of the coloring looks like it’s a bit lighter and does have the gold emblem, replacing the a blue spider coloring at the center. In all, it shows that for this flick Tom Holland will be likely embracing the advancements that the Stark-created suits bring and we might not see a return to the older looks for now. For a character who could be in for way more of a fight this time around, he’s going to need all the help he can get.
Again, this new suit for Tom Holland is all from a Lego box, so take that part with a relative grain of salt. That being said, specific cross-branding around characters typically does keep in mind what the guy/ gal will look like in the actual movie for continuity. These kinds of things are often cross-referenced well ahead of time. So if the leak came through a specific toy brand, it’s almost certainly a suit we will see in some fashion in the movie.
It will still be some time before we actually get a glimpse of Tom Holland, in the suit or otherwise, in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Originally intended for a July 16th release date, the timeline was pushed back because of the pandemic. Very little is known about the film right now except that it will tie in other iterations of the Spider-Man franchises from the past. That’s going to come, in one respect, from the villains he’ll take on in the Multiverse. All manner of bad guys from past movies are returning for this next one. No matter what Tom Holland wears, this film is setting up to be a blockbuster.
