No one knows how to have fun on social media like Miley Cyrus. Does she need a reason to post a sultry video on her Instagram? Absolutely not. Her 134 million followers know that when they load her stories or feed, there is absolutely no guessing what you might see. So when she posted a video in a one-piece bathing suit recently, you definitely didn’t know where it was going to go.

The caption explains the post with “Made ya look.” and suggests that fans purchase tickets to Summer Fest, a concert in Milwaukee. The 2021 lineup includes Miley Cyrus, Green Day, Dave Chapelle, Megan Thee Stallion, and Run the Jewels, among many others.
Since her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus has said that she finally feels free to do whatever she wants to. The 28-year-old star is more than happy to share that personal freedom with all of her fans, sometimes in interviews, often on social media. Her honesty, and her tendency to be racy and provocative, are what her fans have come to know her for. For Christmas 2020, she celebrated with topless photos. Earlier this year in her Stories on Instagram, she posted a photo of her backside in a lacy blue thong, and suggested it may be a good time for her family members to stop following her on social media. For the record, both of her parents still follow her.
She went on the Howard Stern Show in 2020 and while she discussed her duet with Dua Lipa and covering a Courtney Love song, she also talked about dating during the pandemic. She shared that she was being strict about staying home for lockdown. She was spending a lot of time at home and mostly alone, except virtually. “I do a lot of FaceTime sex — it’s the safest sex,” she shared. “I’m not getting COVID.” She talked about how she feels that it’s a challenging time for meeting people and dating, but also that she felt it was messed up for people to be irresponsible and meet up with people for dates in person during lockdown.
These comments were curious to some people, who were surprised by Miley Cyrus and her seemingly carefree attitude blending with a sense of responsibility when it came to the pandemic. It’s these kinds of racy, and yet honest and more thorough comments from her perspective that make her so popular online.
The past two years have seen a lot of changes for Miley Cyrus. She divorced her long time partner, Liam Hemsworth. She released an album in November 2020 called Plastic Hearts, which normally would have seen a world tour. The album was highly personal and shared a lot of her feelings about her divorce from Hemsworth and other parts of her life in recent years. While she’d started on the album two years prior, a lot of it was lost in a fire in Malibu. The first single from her album, Midnight Sky, was written during the beginning of the pandemic.
What will Miley Cyrus share on social media next? Probably, whatever she feels like in the moment.
