Like most films, Jurassic World: Dominion, or Jurassic World 3, was pushed back from its initial release date due to the coronavirus pandemic. But as things in the real world start to improve, Universal Pictures is doing its best to hype up the film ahead of its 2022 release. And now a new image from Jurassic World 3 has given fans their first look at a brand new feathered dinosaur.
The Moros Intrepidus made its social media debut in a post from director Colin Trevorrow, sparking the feathers or no feathers debate that has plagued Jurassic Park for years. Although the original trilogy tried to settle those arguments by stating that the park’s creatures were created by splicing dinosaur DNA with frog DNA, fans and critics were still unhappy with the inaccuracy. Looks that will be settled with Jurassic World 3.
Now that the existence of feathered dinosaurs has been scientifically proven, the studio decided it was the right time to introduce them to audiences in this newest entry. Universal also released a new poster for Jurassic World 3 that showcases a mosquito drinking blood from the hide of a dinosaur along with the tagline, “It all started here.”
Jurassic World: Dominion will be the third and final movie in the Jurassic World trilogy and the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise. The science-fiction adventure film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael, based on a story by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Alexandra Derbyshire executive produces alongside Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg.
Jurassic World 3 will see Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong reprising their roles as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, and Dr. Henry Wu respectively. Additionally, a few familiar characters from the original Jurassic Park trilogy are expected to appear in the new film. This includes Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern).
The plot for Jurassic World 3 has been kept strictly under wraps for now. However, the story presumably begins after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and focuses on a world in which dinosaurs are unleashed into civilization. Interestingly, fans can look forward to a special extended preview of Jurassic World: Dominion ahead of every IMAX screening of F9 (starting on June 25th), in which plot details are sure to be revealed.
In a press release, director Colin Trevorrow expressed his excitement about preview footage.
“Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see dinosaurs in their natural habitat. It may have taken a few decades, but with a little help from ILM, Universal and Amblin, it has finally happened. This Preview is just a glimpse of the film we’ve made. It’s an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world next summer. This sequence was made to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Luckily, IMAX theaters are back, and all over the world, we’re returning to theaters because movies bring us closer together. I think we need that shared experience right now… maybe more than we ever have.”
The exclusive preview of Jurassic World 3 will be available at IMAX screenings of F9 in more than 40 countries and territories including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Central America, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States, and Vietnam.
