One of the most iconic Star Wars characters, and the franchise’s most prominent bounty hunter, Boba Fett, is finally getting his own show, The Book of Boba Fett. The miniseries was announced at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2, expanding its narrative in The Mandalorian universe, centering around Boba Fett taking over the Tattooine criminal underworld. So, we can expect to see countless numerous galactic villains appear in the show, including many of Boba Fett’s friends and rivals.

And while The Book of Boba Fett‘s actual story still remains under tight wraps, the fandom caught wind of Bossk’s return to the Star Wars franchise, as reported by LRM Online. Several other appearances were speculated or hushed about, including Tymothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth, Fennec Shand as Ming-Na Wen, and the alleged appearance of Cad Bane – one of Boba Fett’s fiercest rivals. And while these appearances are still speculative, since no official, credible source confirmed them, Bossk’s appearance seems highly probable, given the history he shares with Boba Fett, which adds weight to the rumors.

The character first appeared in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, where he’s briefly shown along with several other bounty hunters tasked by Darth Vader in finding the Millennium Falcon, putting him in direct competition with Boba Fett. The character’s whereabouts remained largely unknown after the movie since he hasn’t appeared in any of the following Star Wars projects until The Clone Wars animated series, which gave Bossk a deeper backstory, potentially setting him up for future appearances. In fact, Fett and Bossk worked together on some missions in the show, alongside Aurra Sing, Castas, and other bounty hunters. But Bossk’s and Fett’s history makes The Book of Boba Fett a logical choice for Bossk’s reintroduction to the franchise.

Bossk was a mentor to orphaned Boba Fett, who trained him in combat and martial skill after Jedi Master Mace Windu killed Jango Fett, Boba’s gene-father. After The Clone Wars, Bossk ended up working as Fett’s bodyguard, as Fett continued to make a name for himself, working for the likes of Jabba the Hut and Darth Vader. Eventually, Bossk drifted away from Fett’s crime syndicate but remained one of the most prominent bounty hunters in the galaxy. He was later set to appear in front of Darth Vader as a direct competition to Boba Fett. The once-upon-a-time friends decided to work together on capturing Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon, with Fett tricking Bossk into following decoy coordinates while collecting the bounty for Solo by himself. Their alleged reunion in The Book of Boba Fett should be an interesting one.

Given how The Mandalorian served as an introduction for The Book of Boba Fett, we can expect the upcoming series to explore Boba Fett’s history, including his relationship with Bossk. Knowing how Disney enjoys milking their hits for more profits, we wouldn’t be surprised if Bossk got a spin-off of his own, which ties into the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett – set to debut this December. That said, Bossk’s appearance is highly speculative and not officially confirmed, so we advise you to take this information with a grain of salt. We’ll see Boba Fett again this December, but the question still remains: will Bossk join him?
