According to Chris Hemsworth’s Instagram account, filming on Thor: Love and Thunder has officially wrapped. The news comes via the actor’s Instagram account which was accompanied by a post celebrating national Don’t Flex Day.
The photo gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at Thor: Love and Thunder‘s hammer-wielding Asgardian prince, alongside director Taika Waititi as the rock monster Korg. But what really caught everyone’s attention was Chris Hemsworth’s extremely jacked physique which makes him look like the Hulk in real life! The size of his arms has fans talking and doing more than a little drooling.
The post was also accompanied by an ironic post celebrating national Don’t Flex Day in which the Marvel star thanked the cast and crew. You can get a look at the photo of Chris Hemsworth and the post celebrating the end of filming right here:
Thor: Love and Thunder is the latest installment in the Thor franchise and is intended to be a direct sequel to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. It is also the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is directed by Taika Waititi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. This will be the ninth appearance of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Starring alongside Chris Hemsworth as Thor, are Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Other Marvel stars making their return are Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn and Jeff Goldblum.
Academy Award winner Christian Bale will be joining Chris Hemsworth on screen as Gorr the God Butcher, the main antagonist in the film. Russell Crowe also is confirmed to have a cameo appearance as Zeus, the King of the Olympians. Exactly whether or not his role will be expanding into something larger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains to be seen.
Although plot details have been kept firmly under wraps, the movie is said to be based on Jason Aaron’s run on The Mighty Thor in which Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor – even though she has cancer. Does this mean that Natalie Portman could be taking over the mantle of Thor permanently from Chris Hemsworth?
The film may also incorporate elements of Marvel’s 2014 Original Sin storyline, which explains how Thor lost his powers. According to comic book lore, the God of Thunder became unworthy of wielding Mjolnir after learning a secret from Nick Fury. Although Thor initially attempts to reclaim the hammer, he eventually relinquishes the name and role after seeing Jane wield its power.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s actual Hulk, Mark Ruffalo is rumored to be making a special guest appearance in Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series, She-Hulk. Billed as a comedy, the series stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk and is directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia. Jessica Gao serves as head writer and showrunner.
There is currently no definitive release date for She-Hulk on Disney+. But Chris Hemsworth will be seen next in Thor: Love and Thunder when the fourth entry in the Thor series hits theaters on May 6, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
