A Han Solo series just got confirmed in an accidental way.

Disney has drawn up a hefty slate of movies and series for 2021 and 2022 which includes everything from new Marvel projects, Star Wars series, and other films. But it is common knowledge that the organization never reveals all its cards. Remember how many different Star Wars series were announced during Disney’s Investor Day but we didn’t come to know about The Book of Boba Fett until The Mandalorian Season 2’s finale. And that’s why when Disney’s CEO, Bob Chapek, recently announced a Han Solo series before correcting himself, we find it hard to believe that it was just a mistake.
Recently, Bob Chapek made an appearance at the J.P. Morgan Global, Technology, Media and Communications conference and spoke about the different projects that Disney currently has in the pipeline- some ready to debut and a few still in production. He talked about the upcoming Marvel projects and how by the end of the year, six Marvel titles will release- Black Widow, Shang Chi, Loki, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and What If…? Soon he broached the topic of the upcoming Star War shows on Disney+ and initially mentioned that a Han Solo series is in development before hastily rectifying himself and sharing that what he meant was The Book of Boba Fett.
It is understandable that keeping the details about all the projects that Disney is currently working on in check can be quite a task for anyone, especially its CEO Bob Chapek who has many other things on his overflowing plate. But while it would have been easier to digest if he had mispronounced a character’s name or forgotten what phase MCU is currently in, the possibility that he seemingly made the “mistake” of mixing up the Boba Fett show with a Han Solo series is hard to believe. And what’s more, this is not the first time that news of a Han Solo series has cropped up.
In May 2018, Solo: A Star Wars Story was released, which told the origin story of Han Solo, one of the greatest leaders of the rebel alliance and the Captain of the Millenium Falcon, before the events of A New Hope. The film was a part of Disney’s Star Wars anthology movie series but when it underperformed at the box office, plans of any more Star Wars films were dropped as Disney scrapped all the films in development and instead started focusing on making series for its streaming platform. While Disney went on a hiatus till 2022 from releasing new Star Wars films after The Rise of Skywalker, rumors originated in 2019 that instead of a film, a Han Solo series was in the works that could also star Lando and would release on Disney+.
Thus, the chances of Disney keeping a tight lid on its plans for a Han Solo series are rather high. But given the numerous Star Wars projects that it is currently working on, like the Obi-Wan Kenobi tv series, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian Season 3, and a lot more, it would take a lot of time before they actually make the rumors official.
