Demi Lovato No Longer Wants To Be Called “She”
Demi Lovato has announced they are non-binary and no longer using she/her pronouns.

Recently, Demi Lovato launched their own podcast, 4D with Demi Lovato. During the first episode, Lovato announced that they are non-binary and no longer using the pronounces “she/her”, and instead using “they/them”. They said that they understand that it will take time for their fans to make this pronoun adjustment and accidents will happen, but that it would mean the world to Lovato if people would start referring to them with using they/them.
Because being non-binary is something that’s still new to the mainstream consciousness, Demi Lovato decided to dedicate the first episode of their podcast to talking about their experience, the usage of specific pronouns, and a closer look at the non-binary community at large. They also posted a brief video to their social media accounts along with captions. You can check out the video in the Twitter post below.
The post shares the announcement and then lets fans know that Demi Lovato is not a spokesperson for the non-binary community, and so they also brought a guest on for the episode, speaker Alok Vaid-Menon.
During the interview, the two talk about Lovato’s journey and also general misunderstandings people have about what it means to be non-binary. On a more personal note, Demi Lovato talks about their 2018 overdose. They’ve been very open in the past about their journey with drug addiction. They’ve said before that addiction is something that never goes away and is something that a recovering person always has to be aware of and working on.
Over the past year, Demi Lovato has been in therapy and working on healing and accepting who they truly are. During all this work, they said that they came to feel like their 2018 overdose wouldn’t have happened if they weren’t ignoring their truth. Lovato said, “I was suppressing who I really am in order to please stylists, or team members, or this or that, or even fans that wanted me to be the sexy, feminine pop star in the, in the leotard and look a certain way.”
The entertainer has been working in Hollywood since they were a child. Demi Lovato was on Disney television shows and has released seven studio albums. They’ve been nominated for Grammys twice. In 2020, they were on Will & Grace. Lovato has never stopped working in front of the public eye. And they’re not yet 30 years old. It seems like they’ve never had a moment without an audience to spend time alone, getting to know who they are. Figuring out their gender identity, and then announcing it to the world, must have taken a lot of courage.
While the podcast is Demi Lovato’s latest project, it’s not the only project they’re working on. Last week, Lovato announced that they’re in on the hunt for UFOs. Lovato has signed on with their sister and best friend to go researching eyewitness encounters and perform tests at UFO hotspots. While Lovato has been described as a true believer in UFO sightings and extraterrestrial life visiting Earth, their best friend is a hard skeptic. NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, has signed the team up for a four-part unscripted series on the network called Unidentified. An official release date hasn’t been announced yet.
