We already covered Activision’s teasers regarding John McClane and Rambo appearing in the Call of Duty franchise. Now that Activision confirmed the iconic heroes’ appearance and released promotional art, we’ve got pictures to show. You can now see Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone as iconic action characters in Call of Duty.

According to the recently leaked in-game shots, McClane and Rambo appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War title, and not Warzone, as initially suggested. However, Activision released promotional art featuring Bruce Willis’ and Sylvester Stallone’s characters, followed by an announcement trailer, which sets the record straight – John McClane and John Rambo will appear in not one but several Call of Duty titles. And that’s not all.

The promotional art, and the announcement trailer, are setting things up for a new event called Call of Duty Presents: 80s Action Heroes, which brings the most enduring action movie heroes to the Call of Duty franchise. According to Activision, the event starts on May 20th and presents Bruce Willis’ and Sylvester Stallone’s action heroes to three Call of Duty games, including Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty Mobile. Other action heroes from the ’80s might also appear, but Activision only confirmed the inclusion of McClane and Rambo at the time of writing.

Despite initial teasers’ positive reception, the leaked stills from Black Ops Cold War shook things up a bit. Though they gave us the first glimpse of Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone as playable characters, the character models don’t seem quite right. Both skins retained their likeness to the original cinematic characters, but they’re both significantly slimmer than how they appear in their movies, especially Rambo. Some fans of the game, and the film, aren’t really impressed with the character’s appearance, especially considering Rambo’s appearance in Mortal Kombat 11, where he’s more representing of the character’s actual physique.

Bruce Willis’ character has a slightly elongated head, though sporting a similar but somewhat longer hairstyle than John McClane did in the original Die Hard. Some even made negative comments about Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo, saying that he looks more like Shaggy from Scooby Do, going mad on Vietnam instead of solving mysteries. The poor character model design riled up the fans on social media, with most of them comparing Bruce Willis’ and Sylvester Stallone’s respective characters with their cinematic counterparts. Apparently, the character design is so bad that fans abandon any initial plans on acquiring the new skins.

The question of voice acting still remains, as it’s still unknown if the actors will voice any lines for their respective characters. Considering that Sylvester Stallone voiced his role as Rambo in Mortal Kombat 11, it’s safe to assume that he and Bruce Willis have done the same for a title as grand as Call of Duty. Not that it matters, given the fandom’s reaction to their characters’ models for the upcoming event, which includes Nakatomi Plaza and a skinny Rambo. Very little detail is known about the upcoming event at this time. Still, we hope Activision will shed some light on the situation, as well as the questionable dietary habits of some of our favorite action movie heroes.
