This article is more than 2 years old
Henry Cavill knows what it’s like to be part of major movie franchises. Heck, he’s been part of some of the biggest on both the big and small screen over the last few years. So it makes sense that when the actor dreams on the next project it isn’t some small indie startup film. No, this dude goes big or he goes home. And according to insider Daniel Richtman, the actor has his Kryptonian laser beam eyes set on another franchise right now. Richtman is reporting that Cavill wants to get in on the Fast & Furious action sooner than later. Why not? The dude already knows what it’s like to be part of some of the biggest stuff out there.
This Henry Cavill news is only a rumor at this point, but considering the actor’s trajectory, it makes total sense. We are about to get the next Fast & Furious installment (F9) this summer on June 25th and it’s already gearing up to be an absolute event. The franchise has only grown over the years, turning into one of the largest non-comic book/ superhero sets of films we have going. The high-speed elements, silly but spectacular action sequences, the loose fabric of a story, and star-after-star inclusion in the cast for sure would appeal to someone like Cavill who has experience in this realm.
Whether Fast & Furious would have Henry Cavill as part of the action remains to be seen but there’s no doubt he’d be a welcome addition to the cast which has had no issues tying in new faces when the time is right. This next film will feature all of the regulars you’ve come to know and love speeding along with, but will also add John Cena as Vin Diesel’s brother Jakob Toretto with Charlize Theron reprising her Cipher role as well. Future films could see the return of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham to the mix as Hobbs and Shaw with even Eva Mendes rumored for a return at some point. This franchise has just become massive.
As for Henry Cavill, well his status is certain in some franchises and less so in others. There has been much in the rumor and speculation mill about where he stands as Superman in the DC Extended Universe. Signs are pointing toward him being on the outs there. Some believe he’s severed ties with the studio after they committed to a new version of Superman, a black actor this time, with JJ Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates taking the character in a new direction.
But no worry because Henry Cavill has plenty of other things in the works. His Netflix series The Witcher recently complete filming and is setting up for a second season release on the platform. Plus, it was just announced this week that he’ll be returning for multiple sequels in the Enola Holmes world on the platform. He’ll be reprising his Sherlock Holmes role alongside star Millie Bobby Brown. And finally, he’s even been rumored to be making the jump over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Britain when Anthony Mackie’s Captain America gets his first feature-length film.
So will Henry Cavill end up joining the Fast & Furious crew? That remains to be seen. But if there’s a dude who can franchise jump, this is the guy.
