Chris Evans’ Fate As Captain America Revealed?

Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Captain America, who even after being unthawed from ice helped defend a world he was never really a part of anymore. For the Captain, his world was left behind in the 1940s, along with the love of his life and a best friend he thought had died during one of his missions. In Avengers: Endgame, which takes place post “snap”, he passes his shield onto Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon. This sets the stage for the Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which follows the events taking place after the Endgame movie. But where’s Steve Rogers, and what happened with Chris Evans’ Captain America? Guess what – no one knows. At least for now.
Apparently, even the cast and showrunners in charge of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are kept in the dark regarding the original Captain America’s fate. They were all equally surprised to see the show’s title changed into Captain America and the Winter Soldier during the last episode’s credits sequence, which only affirms Sam Wilson as the new Captain. According to Malcolm Spellman, the show’s frontrunner, Marvel keeps Steve’s whereabouts a secret, even from him. This allowed the creative voice behind the show to write whatever he wanted because he had no insight into Steve’s whereabouts, which only extended the writer’s creative freedom. But why didn’t he resurrect the character? It seems that as far as anyone’s concerned, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is no longer a superhero.
Despite what the fandom believes, those better acquainted with the story know that Sam Wilson’s “ascension” to the next Captain America is canonically correct. Sam was officially appointed as the next Captain America by Steve Rogers himself in the 2012-2015 Marvel Now! relaunch of the comics. It’s very much similar to what we’ve seen in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame – with an older and wizened Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passing his shield onto Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) through a series of events that set the stage for the fourth Captain America movie, which will build upon the series’ narrative. We already know that Captain America 4 won’t star Chris Evans in the titular role. He certainly didn’t appear in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which doesn’t provide much insight into what happened to Chris Evan’s Steve Rogers. The Endgame provided some insight, where we see the Cap as an older man, but neither narrative explained his whereabouts after he gave the shield to Wilson.
From what we gathered, Chris Evans’ replacement was long-planned by Marvel, and the actor was aware of that. This is both an official and canonically correct story regarding Chris Evans as Captain America. In their latest appointment of Sam Wilson as the new Captain, the Marvel Cinematic Universe changed their entire social media structure of Captain America, which now features Sam Wilson as the new, official Captain, with Chris Evans nowhere to be seen. It is what it is; the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four started with the WandaVision series and includes eleven upcoming titles, including the Eternals and Captain Marvel 2. Maybe one of those eleven titles will provide some insight because nobody else seems to know what fate befell the original Captain America.
