Could a Falcon & the Winter Soldier season 2 be in the works for Disney+ after all?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may have just ended, but that has not stopped fans from speculating and theorizing themselves into a frenzy about what’s next for Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. Now, despite people at Marvel saying Falcon & the Winter Soldier season 2 is not likely to happen, we are catching wind of a new rumor that says the opposite.
Gossip writer Daniel Richtman brings word that Falcon & the Winter Soldier season 2 may be coming. Not only that, but Richtman’s scoop also mentioned that Joaquin Torres may be strapping himself into the wingsuit to become the next Falcon. That would be amazing. Even more exciting, the first season definitely teased this, so it would be great to see a second season build on that. Please remember that this is just a rumor at this point and should absolutely be taken as such. And even if it does end up being true, it may be a different creative team steering the ship next time. After all, we now know that at least two of the first season’s main writers will be busy penning another big-name Marvel Studios project. Writer Malcolm Spellman will be working on Captain America 4 for us. Hopefully, the team that is assigned does just as great of a job next time.
Aside from a potential Falcon & the Winter Soldier season 2, there is still lots in store for the two titular heroes. The showrunner for the series, Malcolm Spellman, just signed on to write an Anthony Mackie-led Cap 4 along with one of the first season’s staff writers, Dalan Musson. This just-announced installment does not yet have a director, but with any luck, the Russo brothers will return to deliver more Marvel excellence.
Quite a bit happened at the end of the first season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We finally find out who the Power Broker is. A C-List Marvel villain from Phase 2 is unceremoniously killed. We get to see Anthony Mackie in an awesome new Captain America suit. And we see Bucky finally fully confront and contend with his past crimes, thus completing his journey to move on from his Winter Soldier identity. So as you can see, there were a lot of big moments in that season finale, and a lot of that could set up a Falcon & the Winter Soldier season 2. Wherever we see the characters next, it will be awesome to see where Kevin Feige and company end up taking things next.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier joined the phenomenal WandaVision on Disney+ back in mid-March, deepening and darkening the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some really compelling-and incredibly unexpected- ways. And there is even more to which fans can look forward. Up next is Tom Hiddleston’s return in the upcoming Loki series-also on Disney+, as well as Marvel’s animated anthology series, What If…? Loki is scheduled to premiere on the streamer on June 11 while What If…? is currently expected to be released later this year. On the film side of things, the belated Black Widow solo flick will be out on July 9.
All episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
