Captain America 4 is already in the works after the landmark ending of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Sam Wilson has taken on the mantle of Captain America and will be the focal point of this newest movie. Fans immediately have been wondering just what kind of direction the story could take after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ended on a very politically charged note. Would we see the same kind of issues being brought up in the next film installment in the series?

Giant Freakin Robot has obtained exclusive information regarding some of what fans can expect in Captain America 4. One of our trusted and proven insider sources has passed along that this new movie will be continuing the kind of commentary we saw in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Specifically, the fourth entry will touch on more about racism in the United States and how Sam Wilson will be attempting to reckon with such issues. It seems like his tenure as Captain America will not shy away from exploring these difficult and controversial subjects. Exactly how that will be integrated into the larger story is unclear at this point, but it seems to be a crucial factor for Anthony Mackie taking on the role as Captain America.

We are also being told that Anthony Mackie wants to bring more diversity to Captain America 4. Our source told us that Mackie wants to have more women and people of color in the new film as major characters. We have to wonder if this means a lot more new characters or bringing over some of the ones we met in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Would this new movie bring back Isaiah Bradley and his grandson, Eli? They seemed like important characters to Sam’s approach to how he would act as Captain America. Bringing them back in Captain America 4 seems like a good way to strengthen that element of his character’s evolution. Not to mention that it could help position Eli as a future Avenger. And everyone has to be expecting Sharon Carter to play a role in this fourth film after that post-credits scene in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Could Captain America 4 end up being a divisive entry for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The franchise has not been afraid to get political at times, especially with one of their best movies, Black Panther. There is clearly a way to execute more political stories while still delivering the blockbuster entertainment that audiences expect to experience from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will take a deft hand to handle this balancing act, and it remains to be seen if writers Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson will be able to do so with Captain America 4.

We will have to wait and see if this newest installment will live up to the expectations fans have from this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anthony Mackie has definitely proven he is more than capable of being the new Captain America. Now, it remains to be seen if Captain America 4 will be equally adept.
