Kristen Stewart Returning To Make More Twilight?
Kristen Stewart could be headed back to the world of Twilight.
This article is more than 2 years old
Kristen Stewart is one of the most prominent stars in the world, and if a new rumor proves true, she will be in the spotlight in an even bigger way.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman brings word that Summit Entertainment is eyeing Kristen Stewart for a Bella Swan return. Keep in mind that this is just a rumor at this point and should be taken as such. Richtman has been right in the past, but his scoops are also updated frequently and may include details that will be updated as more information becomes available.
Kristen Stewart starred in each of the five Twilight movies, rising to superstardom alongside Robert Pattinson. Like Pattinson, Stewart has enjoyed something of a career resurgence in recent years. In 2019, she starred in Elizabeth Banks’s Charlie’s Angels reboot, as well as in Seberg and Love, Antosha. In 2020, she appeared in Underwater and Happiest Season.
Coming up for Kristen Stewart is the starring role in Spencer, a film centering around Princess Diana’s decision to divorce Prince Charles.
Kristen Stewart’s turn as Bella Swan in the Twilight saga remains her most popular performance. Heck, Twilight was trending on streaming as recently as a month ago, and the movie came out 13 years ago. If that is not a testament to the franchise’s staying power, we don’t know what is.
Kristen Stewart’s starring role helped the entire saga make a killing at the global box office. The final film in the franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, broke box office records and shattered expectations. In fact, each successive installment in the series ended up making far more money than the last (with the notable exception of Breaking Dawn: Part 1, which made slightly less than Eclipse). That is pretty standard for a film franchise of Twilight‘s caliber (and, similarly, of Harry Potter‘s appeal), but it is still impressive.
If Kristen Stewart does end up returning to the role that catapulted her to international fame, it will be interesting to see how the studio handles the character’s comeback. The Twilight Saga ended her story, and it would be difficult to justify a return that doesn’t make any sense narratively. But hey, Hollywood is notorious for driving profitable franchises into the ground, so none of this is particularly surprising if true. Again, take this with a grain of salt because nothing has been confirmed yet. We simply received a report that said she was “being eyed” for a return. That means little at this point, and it is important to remember that. But it is still interesting to think about, and it’s likely that if this rumor gains enough traction amongst fans, then Summit will come forth with either confirmation or denial. We will just have to wait and see.
Hopefully, if the studio behind Twilight must bring Kristen Stewart back, it does so in a way that feels organic and not totally forced for the sake of making more money. We will simply have to wait and see what happens.
