It’s been a long journey for Zack Snyder’s Justice League. After fan disappointment with the initial Justice League, which finished its production with Joss Whedon, fans kept demanding Warner Bros. release the Snyder Cut. What seemed like a joke at first became a reality when Warner Bros. announced the four-hour Snyder Cut of Justice League would finally get a release on HBO Max in March of 2021. Well, now that journey has come to its inevitable end, as Warner Bros. has accidentally leaked Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max for several users trying to watch Tom & Jerry instead.
While the photo from the original tweet was taken down, it seems like several HBO Max users who started watching Tom & Jerry were surprised to see Zack Snyder’s Justice League instead. Twitter user @gbral_ said that he managed to watch the first two hours of Justice League before HBO Max exited him out of the movie, and turned the program back to Tom & Jerry.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League isn’t supposed to be released until March 18th, and in a statement made by HBO Max, the streaming service said the film was temporarily available, but that the “error was addressed within minutes.” However, it seems like some viewers were able to watch even more of Justice League than HBO Max thought possible.
While Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has made it clear that he won’t be returning as the robotic superhero in future DC films, the actor did comment on the leak, supporting the idea of flooding HBO Max with viewers of Zack Snyder’s Justice League when it officially does come out next week. This leak also strangely coincided with the release of a new teaser trailer that focused on Fisher’s Cyborg.
Hopefully, this accidental reveal will not lead many fans to ask for the Zack Snyder cut of Tom & Jerry, which obviously when someone watches the first two hours of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, doesn’t finish the film, but watches the entirety of Tom & Jerry instead. Honestly, if enough people did it, HBO Max would likely release Zack Snyder’s Tom & Jerry in a heartbeat, with a gritty trailer where Tom tells the audience that “we live in a society.”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League was originally going to be a four-part miniseries, but HBO Max has stated that the film will now be released as one four-hour film. In addition to this, HBO Max is also supposedly prepping a black-and-white version of this new Justice League cut, entitled the Justice Is Gray Edition for release in the future. If you want to watch Justice League as Zack Snyder intended, you just HAVE to watch all eight hours of it, in both color and black-and-white.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will finally intentionally be released on HBO Max on March 18, 2021.
