The WandaVision finale has come and gone. Now, all we are left with are questions about what is going to happen next. Of course, this would not be a Marvel Cinematic Universe project if we didn’t get a few post-credits teasers that give us a hint as to what the future holds for this franchise. And the teasers in the WandaVision finale certainly give fans plenty to chew on for the next installments of the series.
The first mid-credits teaser we get actually focuses on Monica Rambeau a.k.a. Photon. She is helping out with the cleanup effort in Westview when an agent says that Monica is needed in the town theater. The two of them enter the empty theater and it is revealed that the agent is actually a Skrull in disguise. She tells Monica that a “friend” of Monica’s mother wants to meet with Monica. When Monica asks, “Where?”, the Skrull points upwards, alluding to the idea that their meeting will take place in space.
This moment in the WandaVision finale seems to indicate that either Nick Fury or Talos has been keeping an eye on Monica and wants to recruit her for something important. This definitely seems like an obvious setup for the upcoming Secret Invasion series that will star both Nick Fury and Talos in lead roles. This pretty much confirms our scoop that Monica will be playing a pivotal role in that series. So that seems to be one big piece of setup out of the way for the future.
But what about Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch? By the end of the WandaVision finale, she has lost her constructed family and is living in seeming exile out in the middle of nowhere. We see her sitting on the porch of a cabin, and it looks like she might have decided to live a very quiet life after all the traumatic events that happened to her.
But, there is one more surprise still to come. As Wanda walks back into the cabin, we also see her astral form floating in the air. In front of her is the Darkhold, an ancient text of magical power and prophecy that is also known as the Book of the Damned. Wanda is studying the book when she hears the cries of her children asking her for help. It’s then that Wanda glows red with her Chaos Magic and the screen goes black.
It looks like the WandaVision finale left us with a clear setup for Wanda’s involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And it seems like her children will be the motivating factor for whatever she is planning to do in the future. The Darkhold could very well hold the power to bring her children back into the material plane, but it could be at a great cost to the fabric of the multiverse. That seems to be the path that Wanda is set on, and it is almost assuredly going to shape the entire future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.
