Patton Oswalt Shines In The Trailer For Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. Series

Patton Oswalt just feels like a geek’s geek in the most superlative form of that word. Dude is basically a one-stop-shop for hilarious characters, great movie takes, one-liners, and scene-stealing moments in a variety of different works. Which is why it’s so cool that he’s going to be voicing a totally unique character in a show that could be downright hilarious. Now we have our first chance to catch Oswalt as the voice of M.O.D.O.K. Check this thing out:
Though he struggles to get it out at the end of the trailer, M.O.D.O.K. stands for Mental/ Mobile/ Mechanized Organism Designed Only For Killing. It’s based on the comic book supervillain of the same name and will have Patton Oswalt voicing the character. It’s a ridiculous-looking farce of a show that could have a million comedic moments. It will be thanks to the character’s clear lack of emotional intelligence combined with something like a loose grip on his actual station as a villain.
Even in the minute-long trailer, it’s clear Patton Oswalt is helping this new show go full comedy in the approach and story arc. M.O.D.O.K., for all his powers and potential brains, still comes off as something less than intimidating, a struggle I’m sure the character will have throughout the show’s run. Like many other inferior supervillains who’ve succumbed fully to the Dunning-Kruger effect in which they simply don’t realize they are actually overmatched, M.O.D.O.K. appears to have a warped sense of his power.
Heck, it even starts off with us hearing Patton Oswalt admit that M.O.D.O.K. has screwed up his criminal enterprise so badly that his evil company is now bankrupt. It’s an inauspicious start for a villain who’s supposed to have all the brains and braun, but apparently lacks both. It looks great.
M.O.D.O.K. will exist in the Marvel Universe but unlike some of their other entities is going to air on Hulu. This is likely because the tone, language, and themes of the show will trend towards an older audience than what they have on the Disney+ platform. And that’s a great sign of what Patton Oswalt is set to deliver for the program. Not only will he star as the lead voice, but he also co-created the show with Jordan Blum. The latter will act as showrunner.
In addition to Patton Oswalt, there are some other great voices attached to M.O.D.O.K. including Ben Schwartz who will play his son Lou and Aimee Garcia as his wife Jodie. Much of the show will be around not only the main character’s criminal enterprising, but also his issues within his own family as well.
M.O.D.O.K. and Patton Oswalt will see the entire show release on Hulu on May 21st of this year for a 10-episode run. If the trailer is any indication, this show is going to be absolutely hilarious and will play to all of the comedian’s strengths.
