Evan Peters is being sought for a third Ace Ventura movie.

Evan Peters is currently on top of the world after his game-changing appearance as Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver in WandaVision. There is no doubt that the actor has to be one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood right now. Exactly what his future with the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be is uncertain at this time, but everyone has to be wondering what his next big project could be. Well, it turns out we have a scoop that says he could be taking over for one of the most successful comedy franchises ever.
According to our trusted inside source – the same one that gave us our confirmed exclusive scoops regarding Don Cheadle appearing as War Machine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Josh Brolin returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos – Evan Peters is being sought after to portray the son of Ace Ventura, pet detective. The character was originally played by Jim Carrey in the 1994 film that bared the character’s name and its exceptionally successful sequel, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. There was even an animated series based on the property. Needless to say, Ace Ventura was a profitable business.
So you can see why the studio would want Evan Peters to help revitalize the franchise. Jim Carrey is still incredibly entertaining and energetic, but he likely does not have the time (or is affordable enough) to devote to a full-on sequel to the character. Peters has not really showcased a similar unhinged energy to Carrey, but he has definitely proved to be a charming and capably silly actor in certain projects. And it is possible he has a well of untapped chaotic goofiness that we just have not seen fully unleashed on the screen before.
If Evan Peters does take the role, he would not be the first one to step into the shoes of an Ace Ventura Jr. there actually was an Ace Ventura Jr. Pet Detective back in 2009, but that was a low-rent made-for-TV cash-in that is better left forgotten. Obviously, a follow-up with Peters in the lead as Ace Ventura’s son would be a true sequel. And one would hope that Jim Carrey would appear in a cameo capacity to help pass the torch to his son. Having Carrey be absent would be a noticeable missing element. Our source did not say whether or not Carrey would be involved in this new film. We have to hope that the studio will figure out a way to integrate him into the sequel, even if it is just for a scene or two.
You can bet that Evan Peters is going to see his star continue to rise. Taking on the role of Ace Ventura’s son would definitely help raise his profile to most audiences. However, we can only hope that this sequel would be much better than another follow-up to a Jim Carrey comedy that also used the whole “son” gimmick. You know the one we’re talking about. Here’s hoping Evan Peters can avoid a pitfall like that awful movie.
