Tom Holland May Change Careers
Tom Holland says he has another career interest outside of acting.

Tom Holland has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors. From his magnetic turn as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to his upcoming co-starring role in Chaos Walking, the 24-year-old actor is able to captivate audiences in a number of wildly different roles. He demonstrates a range that is both impressive for his age and absolutely necessary for a star of his caliber. Now, his ability to adapt may come in handy in a way many would not expect.
During an in-depth interview with Vanity Fair‘s Little Gold Men podcast, Tom Holland revealed that he would like to take a page from his father’s book and take a stab at stand-up comedy. Pretty cool, right? Definitely did not see that coming.
Here’s what Tom Holland had to say about the potential career change:
I’m kind of flirting with the idea of trying a bit of stand-up comedy, following my old man in his footsteps. There’s all sorts of things I’d like to try and do. I need to keep reminding myself I’m only 24 and I have my whole life ahead of me, so I don’t want to rush anything. I want to take my time and be very clever and strategic in what I do next.
And what a life he has already lived! Tom Holland has, of course, been in a number of big-name blockbusters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe films being among his most successful credits. But his filmography extends far beyond the confines of Marvel and the Mouse House. He has also appeared in The Lost City of Z, In the Heart of the Sea, The Current War, The Devil All The Time, and many, many others. Honestly, it is almost impossible to escape his name these days, mainly because he portrays so many different kinds of characters that even people who have only seen one or two movies in the past three years have a decent chance of catching him onscreen. He is prolific and talented, and it will be fascinating to see what he does next.
If this is true and he ends up following through with this dream, it may not mean that Tom Holland is 100% done acting but instead that we just won’t see him in as many roles. That would certainly be a shame, but who knows if it would actually be a bad thing? He could be a comedy genius just waiting to take the world by storm. If that’s the case, then this could absolutely be a wise career move. Waiting on that first Netflix special, Tom!
Tom Holland has also expressed interest in moving his Spider-Man performance to the small screen, but that seems like a more distant possibility because it is currently only his desire and not a concrete studio plan. Still, stuff like this is indicative of a young actor who is trying to expand his horizons and improve his craft. What better way to do that than to take a leap of faith and switch careers entirely? Here’s to hoping this actually happens! Holland has great comedic timing and it would be fun to see him apply that in a new, unexpected way.
