Bryce Dallas Howard has found herself at the center of many exciting projects over the years. Not only has she become a key player in the Jurassic World franchise as Claire Dearing, but she has been in awards-friendly fare like Rocketman and The Help, and starred in one of the best episodes of the cult sci-fi series Black Mirror. She is an exceptionally talented actress and any time she gets involved with a piece of media, it is worth taking notice. And it looks like she will be lending her talents to a truly unique video game experience.
Bryce Dallas Howard will star alongside Seth Gabel (Salem) in Maquette, a first-person puzzle game that examines a romantic relationship between two people and how it falls apart. With that description, it sounds incredibly generic and dull. However, after you watch the trailer below, you will see just how singular and interesting the entire concept actually is. Check out the trailer for Maquette right here:
As you can see in the trailer for Maquette, Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel will be narrating the entire game as a couple that meets and then gets involved in a romantic relationship. Meanwhile, the player will be navigating through a fantastical dreamscape that acts as a metaphor for their story. Along the way, the player will have to solve puzzles in order to progress the story and see just what becomes of these two people. From what we see in the trailer, it looks like things do not exactly turn out great for the two. Maquette seems to be going for a very powerful and affecting story. Nabbing two great actors to frame that story is a good call and could go a long way in helping the game achieve its dramatic goals.
Maquette feels like it is following in the footsteps of games like Braid and Monument Valley with its approach to artistic puzzle-solving and how that will affect the overall narrative of the game. One has to wonder if Bryce Dallas Howard and Seth Gabel will actually see their performances get trampled on by gamers who do not want to be patient with the game and will rush through what looks to be a purposefully meditative experience. Hopefully, players will be able to resonate on the game’s particular wavelength and give it the proper attention it looks to be asking for.
Bryce Dallas Howard will be seen next in Jurassic World: Dominion which is slated to release in theaters on June 10, 2022. The expectation is that this will be her last go-around as the character of Claire Dearing. It will be exciting to see what the next stage of her career will involve. The fact that she is participating in interesting and offbeat projects like Maquette shows that she is not going to be pigeonholed into just being a blockbuster actress. We look forward to seeing her performance in Maquette and whatever else she has in store for her future in acting.
