A real Godzilla vs. Kong fight wouldn’t be a pretty 2020 kind of thing. I don’t think any of us would be totally shocked if a giant lizard emerged from the water and started laying waste to our entire civilization. Or if in turn, a gorilla escaped off an island and also thought it might want to do some damage. Of course, this wouldn’t be ideal but again I just wouldn’t be totally surprised. That’s the case with the latest poster we are getting for Godzilla vs. Kong which pits these two against each other. It is set to hit screens sooner than later and now has a new release plan. Check out the newest look at these two monsters:
In the newest Godzilla vs. Kong poster we get, what appears to be a pretty definitive look at what’s about to go down between these two monsters. On the one hand, there’s Godzilla, the giant radioactive lizard, emerging from the water, looking like he’s about to stalk some prey. In this case, it is going to be the gorilla.
And then there’s Kong who stands in the middle of the buildings in what appears to be a destructive mode. Smoke emerges from the city, in a reddish hue. It’s unclear if that’s the result of damage or just some sort of protective measure. Is this the central standoff between the two beasts? It might be considering we know Godzilla has helped protect folks in previous movies and he and Kong have a history.
And besides just the intrigue around the conflict between these two monsters, there’s also the new release plan for Godzilla vs. Kong. The film from Legendary Pictures will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. On March 26, 2021, it’s going to both movie theaters and HBO Max streaming available for customers of that platform. The movie is following the new world order when it comes to movie releases with the continued move away from brick and mortar theaters and into households on a streaming platform.
Godzilla vs. Kong is set to be the fourth movie in Legendary’s MonsterVerse. Things kicked off with 2014’s Godzilla which was followed by Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. They introduced new versions of the iconic monsters from yesteryear and set them in the middle of a controversy and coverup with a company called Monarch.
In this latest movie, we are likely to get even more monsters on the screen other than the titular two Titans (to which they are now referred). Plenty of other big guys have gotten in on the action in previous movies including Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. This movie might continue to introduce even more or bring some back from the past.
Godzilla vs. Kong will follow three movies that saw solid returns at the box office. On a combined budget of a little over $500 million dollars, they’ve brought in about $1.4 billion. And in terms of critical reception, the first two scored over 75% on Rotten Tomatoes while the third flagged a little and finished at only 43% on the Tomatometer.
Getting to see these two monsters square off in Godzilla vs. Kong looks like quite the event and now we’ll get to see it from the comfort of our living rooms.
