Macaulay Culkin Wants Donald Trump Removed From Home Alone 2
Macaulay Culkin is hopping on board with the recent call for Donald Trump's cameo scene to be removed from Home Alone 2.

Macaulay Culkin has ridden the waves of the Home Alone movies for basically decades now. The actor is synonymous with the two incredibly popular movies that originally came out all the way back in 1990. Considering the amount of fame (and money) those films brought him, it makes sense he’d want to protect their legacy if given the chance. And that’s what is apparently happening with Culkin recently applauding and agreeing with an effort to have Donald Trumps’ cameo removed from Home Alone 2.
Things started on Twitter on Sunday when Twitter user @rachellobaugh threw out the, maybe, tongue-in-cheek request to have Donald Trump’s cameo removed from Home Alone 2. She wanted it replaced with a 40-year-old version of Macaulay Culkin instead. The actor was quick to respond with his support.
This response gained some groundswell with the actor’s tweet getting around 11K likes. It led to another Twitter user, @maxschramp doing some digital touch-ups on the scene in question. He doesn’t replace Donald Trump with Macauley Culkin, but instead just removes the former from the picture altogether. Culkin’s Kevin McAllister ends up talking to essentially an invisible person instead. Culkin was quick to applaud the effort.
This discussion around Donald Trump’s appearance in Home Alone 2 and Macaulay Culkin wanting him out, ramped up recently with the events of January 6th in Washington, D.C. Those took center stage in the debate around the current (soon-to-be-ex) President. It was then that a group of protestors entered the U.S. Capitol building in an effort to overturn the Electoral College vote certification. They were unsuccessful, but the day turned violent and in the end, three were dead, and many sustained injuries.
In a recent interview about the movie, director Christopher Columbus said that Trump “bullied” his way on to the set in the first place. The film was shooting in the Plaza Hotel, a Trump property and a scene with Macaulay Culkin running through the lobby was central to the story. Trump said they could only shoot at the Plaza if the fee was paid and he could make an appearance. Columbus and company acquiesced and the scene stuck in there. It also explains why the scene and cameo itself were a bit of a non sequitur. It appeared forced even at the time and hasn’t aged all that well since.
Whether or not Macaulay Culkin jumping on board to have the scene, or at least Trump, removed from the film remains to be seen. The suggestion of using the now-adult actor in his place is an interesting one made all the more possible with new advancements in CGI technology. But of course, it’s unlikely to ever happen or be rereleased just to take out an unpopular dude in a popular movie.
But considering how Donald Trump has been de-platformed of late, getting kicked off of Twitter and Facebook and having a number of other businesses walk away from the guy, scrubbing him from a popular cameo appearance could be right in line with current events. Maybe Macaulay Culkin will actually push to get it done.
