Elliot Page might not scream action star when you first see him, but he definitely has some comic book movie experience already under his belt. There could be some more on the way, as a recent rumor is stating Marvel Studios is looking to cast Page in an upcoming role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The rumors aren’t clear around what role Elliot Page would play, but we know the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand in size and scope. Page donning a new uniform and gearing up some new superpowers could go a bunch of different directions. There are a number of new Marvel initiatives in the works with plenty of more seemingly headed down the pike.

Elliot Page already has plenty of experience in this realm. He’s already had a role in several Marvel films, playing Kitty Pryde in two X-Men films, The Last Stand and Days of Future Past. Pryde’s powers allowed her to phase through solid objects, and from place to place. Those two movies exist outside of the current Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with Marvel now owning the X-Men properties, there’s some chance he lands back in that world.

Yet with Spider-Man 3 recently casting Jamie Foxx as his Electro role from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Alfred Molina reprising his Doc Ock role from Spider-Man 2, and plenty of other rumors coming about characters from the past returning, it’s entirely possible the X-Men could also have a similar tactic going forward. Over the past 20 years, the X-Men universe grew confusing and muddled, yet with solid casting throughout the original series and the prequel reboot. Marvel could always decide to bring back some of these X-Men for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which could include the return of Elliot Page as Kitty Pryde.

Elliot Page currently stars as Vanya Hargreeves on Netflix’s hit show The Umbrella Academy. On that show, Page appears to be just a mild-mannered violinist, but can unleash sonic waves just through concentration and has the ability to level her surroundings through blasts of sound. Netflix has already announced they wouldn’t be recasting the Vanya Hargreeves character on the show despite Elliot Page’s transition. The Umbrella Academy was just recently renewed for a third season that should be hitting screens sometime in late 2021.

Elliott Page made major waves in the news recently announcing he was transgender non-binary. Formerly Ellen Page, the Oscar-nominated actor announced on Instagram that he identified as he/him and would be changing his name moving forward. Here’s the lengthy and emotional post by Page describing his feelings and thoughts on how he’d be living life moving forward.

Marvel Studios appears to love the chance at continued growth in their casting. They came under some fire over the summer when stars like Anthony Mackie publicly said there was a lack of diversity on both the set and behind-the-scenes for the studio. His interview focused more on race than anything else, but moving in a direction of accepting and casting people of all genders, especially someone like Elliot Page within the LGBTQ+ community would be a big step for the studio.

For now, the transition of Elliot Page isn’t having any impact on his future casting in roles, which is fantastic. That he could headline a major work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would only solidify that his star is still on the rise.
