Gal Gadot will be back as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman 1984, the newest DC superhero tentpole film that will be releasing on Christmas Day in both theaters and on the streaming service HBO Max. Warner Bros. is going to have a big challenge in marketing the film to make sure as many people as possible see it through whichever medium they choose. One way they will be doing that is by dropping new looks at the film.
One of those new looks has already come in. We have seen that Gal Gadot will be donning a special suit of golden armor in the film. There have been a number of photos, promotional material, and trailer shots that have shown the armor, but a newly released photo gives us our best look yet. Check it out right here:
It looks like Gal Gadot will only be using this golden armor during the climactic battle with Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984. In the comics, the golden armor was used to fight incredibly powerful foes. While Cheetah is certainly going to be a formidable opponent, is she strong enough to warrant such a resilient piece of battle fashion? Or is there something larger waiting in the wings that the movie has kept hidden from the audience?
It is undeniably cool to see Gal Gadot wear the iconic golden armor in a feature film. It was first introduced in the standalone miniseries Kingdom Come, one of the most celebrated and influential DC comic books of the last few decades. The armor grants Wonder Woman the ability to fly as well as a significant increase in her invulnerability. The design was so popular with fans that DC eventually integrated the armor into their regular continuity.
Hopefully, this won’t be the only time we got to see Gal Gadot in the classic golden armor. It has clearly been utilized as one of the key pieces of marketing Wonder Woman 1984, and fans seem more than pleased with its inclusion and execution so far. It’d be a shame to see it only used once in a movie. The design and fabrication of it are excellent and deserve to show up in a future DC film.
Thankfully, we will all get to see Gal Gadot in action with the golden armor very soon. After numerous delays, Wonder Woman 1984 is finally getting a release. The decision to make it a simultaneous release in theaters and on HBO Max is a potentially game-changing move or simply the only option available right now. Still, we commend Warner Bros. for allowing consumers to choose how they want to see the film. We can admit to signing up for an HBO Max subscription simply because of Warner Bros.’ decision to release the film on streaming.
We can’t wait to see Gal Gadot put that golden armor to good use when Wonder Woman 1984 opens in theaters and on HBO Max this Christmas. We could not think of a better movie present to find under the tree this year.
