Zack Snyder’s Justice League Gets A New Trailer

Fans have been begging for Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut ever since the original came out in 2017 and disappointed many. Now, Snyder has released a new teaser for his upcoming cut of the film, which will debut on HBO Max in 2021.
This black-and-white trailer almost reminds of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, as both prominently feature “Hallelujah,” similar editing, and both show men in tiny chambers being blown into nothingness. Like Watchmen, the use of “Hallelujah” is almost ironic, as if Zack Snyder is referencing the cries of excitement many fans had when his cut was announced to be released on HBO Max.
Like the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League, this trailer is comprised of plenty of footage that was already seen in the 2017 film, but the black-and-white style and tight editing does give this a new feel from the previous film.
In fact, the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League will only feature 4-5 minutes of extra footage that wasn’t already shot, much of which is said to include Jared Leto’s Joker. The majority of the material was already shot in 2016, but this new take on Justice League will still cost around $70 million for editing and visual effects.
Zack Snyder explained more about his cut of Justice League in a discussion on Vero today after premiering the trailer. Snyder’s version of the Justice League that will debut on HBO Max will be in four, hour-long episodes, and while only a few minutes of extra footage was filmed specifically for this project, two and a half hours of the four hours will be previously unseen footage from 2016. As of right now, his cut is still receiving some post-production visual effects work, but it’s not clear when in 2021 the new cut will be released on HBO Max.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is just one of many new television projects coming to HBO Max in the near future. The Suicide Squad director and writer James Gunn also has a new series centered around his upcoming DC debut, centered around John Cena’s character Peacemaker, aptly titled, Peacemaker. J.J. Abrams is also producing a new Justice League Dark series for HBO Max, which has been in development for the better part of a decade. HBO Max will also be home to another show with Batman, as Matt Reeves’ The Batman will receive a prequel series sometime after the film releases in 2022.
It’s unclear what other surprises Zack Snyder is keeping from us with this new cut of the film, as there have been rumors about his cut for years now. Will this be like a whole new vision of the 2017 film, or will this just be a longer version of the story we’ve already seen, just with Snyder’s supervision? Will Snyder’s new version even have any implications in future DC films, or is this just a fun eccentricity that holds no weight in the rest of this universe? No matter what the result, the Internet can finally stop talking about Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut when it releases on HBO Max some time in 2021. Hallelujah indeed.
