Nick Fury, as played by legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson, has become one of the most pivotal characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now, the secret agent will be headlining his own series on Disney+.
Variety reported the announcement and noted that Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) is attached as a writer and executive producer for the Nick Fury series. Marvel Studios will produce the series for Disney+, though it is not clear what the episode order might be at this time. The other live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney+ have gotten six episodes for their first seasons. It’s possible the Nick Fury show will follow the same production order.
The plot details for the Nick Fury show are obviously being kept closely under wraps. Whatever the plot ends up being, there is a big chance that it will play an enormous role in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nick Fury showed up at the very end of Iron Man, the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and introduced the idea of the Avengers. His participation in the world has always come with game-changing consequences. His television series will likely carry a similar amount of weight.
Samuel L. Jackson has clearly enjoyed his tenure as the super spy. His version of Nick Fury has appeared in eleven of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He also showed up in two episodes of the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Samuel L. Jackson is also set to reprise the role in the animated Disney+ series What If…?, which will also feature the final performance of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.
It is pretty impressive to see just how integral Nick Fury has become to the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since we know that WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are introducing the concept of multiple universes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, could Fury be investigating the multiverse phenomenon? He thought that was what he was doing in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but that ended up being nothing but a ruse from Quentin Beck a.k.a. Mysterio. Maybe his intel in that adventure led to him discovering the actual multiverse.
No matter what the story ends up being, it is going to be pretty awesome to see Samuel L. Jackson get to lead an entire story as Nick Fury. The character has been a supporting player throughout the entire run of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he has never had the opportunity to headline his own adventure. It will be interesting to see what kind of tale that Bradstreet and the other writers have in store for such an important character.
Once we get some more concrete details about the Nick Fury Disney+ series, we will update you with any pertinent specifics. We are willing to bet that there will be some other supporting characters that will change our entire outlook on the upcoming series. It sounds like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is really going to be kicking off over on Disney+, and the Nick Fury series could be the most important of them all.
