As the Coronavirus continues to spread across the world, often people in the public eye are most susceptible to getting it. Famous people travel the world hopping around movie sets and meeting and shaking hands everywhere. So it makes sense that we’re starting to hear of more and more famous Coronavirus test positives.

These are the most well-known people to tested positive for the Coronavirus or who are concerned they have it so far…

Bryan Cranston Has COVID-19

Breaking Bad star and beloved actor Bryan Cranston has just revealed he now has the Coronavirus. He broke the news in the following Instagram post…

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CDReUi1pcDm/

The good news here is that so far his symptoms have been mild. However, Cranston is 64-years-old and that puts him on the edge of the group at the highest risk of death from COVID-19. He does seem like he’s in pretty good shape physically and it sounds like he’s been taking care of himself. Odds are he, like most people who get the virus, will be just fine.

Tom Hanks And Rita Wilson Had The Coronavirus

Tom Hanks had the Coronavirus. Hanks confirmed that both he and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the disease. According to Hanks, he and his wife contracted the disease in Australia where they were working on a movie about the life of Elvis Presley.

Both Tom and his wife Rita are now fully recovered and Tom has some harsh words for those who aren’t taking COVID-19 seriously. Talking to People he says: “There’s really only three things we can do in order to get to tomorrow: Wear a mask, social distance, wash our hands. Those things are so simple, so easy, if anybody cannot find it in themselves to practice those three very basic things – I just think shame on you. Don’t be a prick, get on with it, do your part. It’s very basic. If you’re driving a car, you don’t go too fast, you use your turn signal and you avoid hitting pedestrians. My Lord, it’s common sense.”

Rita Wilson has decided to speak out to CBS about their experience battling COVID-19 and also what it’s like to take the drugs that may have saved them.

I was very tired, I felt extremely achy, uncomfortable, didn’t want to be touched and then the fever started. Chills like I’ve never had before. Looking back I also realized that I was losing my taste and smell. I didn’t realize it at the time.

– -Rita Wilson on what it’s like to have the Coronavirus

I know people have been talking about this drug. I don’t know if the drug worked or if it was just time for the fever to break. We don’t really know if it’s helpful. The chloroquine had such extreme side effects. I was completely nauseous and I had vertigo. I could not walk and my muscles felt very weak. I think people have to be very considerate about this drug. We don’t really know if it’s helpful in this case.

Tom Hanks made his first public appearance (sort of) by hosting Saturday Night Live on April 11th. During his opening monologue, he talked about what it was like dealing with COVID-19. Here’s the full SNL opening monologue with Tom Hanks…

Tom previously delivered this promising update on his condition and it sounds like both he and his wife Rita Wilson are on the upswing. Here’s his last tweet…

Send Tom Hanks your get well wishes by CLICKING HERE.

On March 18, 2020 Tom’s sister stepped and offered an update on his condition and had this concerning report, “I have communicated with my brother. He’s not great, but still okay… Am I shocked? No. He’s an actor, not a god but medical care in Australia is good.”

It’s worth remembering that Tom Hanks is 63-years-old which puts him in the age group most at risk of death from the illness. He’s also a type 2 diabetic, and diabetes is one of the pre-existing health conditions that has been giving Coronavirus sufferers the most trouble.

The Hanks’ had been isolated in an Australian hospital, but according to The Wrap as of March 16, 2020 they’ve been released. They aren’t totally out of the woods yet and will have to remain under quarantine in a home they’ve rented in Australia.

The latest update from Tom Hanks inside his new self-quarantine is that he’s still not feeling great…

This update straight from Tom inside quarantine was upbeat…

His wife Rita Wilson is doing her best to seem cheerful too..

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita shared the following photo together from inside…

Some people believe The Simpsons actually predicted this Tom Hanks predicament. Back in The Simpsons movie from 2007 Tom Hanks showed up for this scene…

The Simpsons frequently ends up predicting a lot of things accurately. However, in this case I’m not sure that qualifies as an actual prediction. Still, it is a much needed moment of levity in a world where nothing seems all that funny, at least not right now.

Meanwhile this photo of Tom Hanks and his buddy Wilson from Cast Away has been making the rounds…

The claim is that this is a photo of Hanks passing the time in Australian quarantine. Be aware that while adorable, the photo is a complete fake. Tom Hanks is NOT in Coronavirus quarantine with Wilson the volleyball. The photo originated with a satirical news site.

In a statement released by Tom Hanks he describes the experience this way: “We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches… Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers, too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

Tom says that he and Rita will will be tested, observed and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.

Tony Shalhoub Tested Positive For COVID-19

In a strange twist, actor Tony Shalhoub announced he has tested positive for Coronavirus, in the middle of a reunion special with his castmates from the beloved TV show Monk.

Here’s the full special and the announcement…

Here’s what Tony had to say about his battle with the Coronavirus…

I hope you are all being careful and following the protocol. We really are all Monk now. Last month, my wife Brooke and I came down with the virus, and it was a pretty rough few weeks. But we realize that so many other people have and had it a lot worse.

It sounds like they had it and are now on the mend, which is great news.

Justin Long Had All The Symptoms

Actor Justin Long believes he and his family had the Coronavirus, however when they asked to be tested they were refused. So they stayed home, got sick, and battled through it on their own. Long believes they got it from his brother Christian. Here’s how he explained it on his podcast

Sadly, Christian’s girlfriend Maggie came back from her work trip and a couple of days later she was very ill. She had classic corona symptoms. She had a fever, dry cough, all the things that they’re saying people have with Covid.

Later both the Long brothers began to have symptoms. Because they aren’t old enough to be in a high-risk age group, they were denied a test. Long says, “We both tried to get the test and as many of you know at this point you have to be in a high risk group which is older people and people with compromised immune systems or it has to be further along in your system or severe enough in your system. It sounds like this illness manifests itself in so many ways… maybe the most insidious part – and I think this is what happened to me – is a lot of people are asymptomatic or barely symptomatic.

One of the strangest symptoms they had is a loss of taste. Long says, “It’s very strange because you just learn to appreciate what taste is more. For instance, I’ll have a piece of pineapple and my tongue will know that there’s something sweet in my mouth. I can feel sweetness but I can’t pinpoint the pineapple. It’s different than when you have a cold, because when you have a cold and you’re all stuffed up you can’t taste anything. You’re just all blocked up.

Luckily it sounds like they’ve all recovered just fine on their own without any medical intervention and the symptoms have now abated.

Star Wars Actor Andrew Jack Killed By The Coronavirus

Coronavirus victim

Actor and dialect coach Andrew Jack played Resistance Major Ematt in both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Tragically, was recently killed by the Coronavirus. There’s been an outpouring of grief from the cast and crew of Star Wars, most notably from Force Awakens director JJ Abrams who posted this tweet…

In case you can’t read it, here’s what it says…

“Andrew Jack was as lovely as they come. Our brilliant dialect coach on The Force Awakens… he was so handsome we had to cast him. Sending love to his friends and family. He will be missed. PS: stay safe, friends!”

Chris Cuomo Has COVID-19

Cuomo Coronavirus

CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo has announced the he has the novel Coronavirus. He broke the news himself on his Twitter stream…

As a CNN anchor he should know that there’s relative little risk to the health of his kids, but his concern for his wife is likely justified.

Cuomo will continue working for CNN, he’ll just be broadcasting from home. Isolating himself from his family is an extreme measure, but perhaps one many will be forced to endure before this crisis is over.

Kathy Griffin In Coronavirus Isolation

UPDATE: Since the following report Kathy Griffin has been sent home with an abdominal infection. Griffin was never tested for the Coronavirus but still claims she should be.

Comedian, actress, and presenter Kathy Griffin is currently hospitalized and in quarantine with what she’s describing as “unbearably painful” Coronavirus symptoms. She also claims she’s being denied a Coronavirus test.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-K0Znug9O0/

Kathy Griffin is 59-years-old and so could be in the danger range at risk of severe Coronavirus symptoms. Until she’s tested and tests positive, current Federal Guidelines also mandate that she shouldn’t be given any of the current experimental cocktail of Trump Pills (which include Hydroxychloroquine) which have been proving successful at clearing up the disease, if indeed that’s what she has.

Current guidelines to doctors from the CDC on how to decide who gets tested read as follows: “Clinicians should use their judgment to determine if a patient has signs and symptoms compatible with COVID-19 and whether the patient should be tested. Most patients with confirmed COVID-19 have developed fever and/or symptoms of acute respiratory illness (e.g., cough, difficulty breathing).”

Idris Elba Has The Coronavirus

Idris Elba has had no symptoms at all from the Coronavirus but apparently he tested positive for COVID-19 last week, and has been in self-quarantine since then.

One of the crazier rumors which has been circling around on the internet is that celebrities, Elba in particular, are being paid to say they have tested positive for the Coronavirus. Idris was the first to address that rumor directly on an Instagram Live.

Regarding whether he’s being paid to say he has the Coronavirus, Idris Elba says, “This idea that someone like myself is gonna be paid to say ‘I’ve got coronavirus,’ that’s like absolute bulls**t… Such stupidness and people wanna spread that as if it’s like news. That’s stupid… That’s the quickest way to get people sick.”

Here’s Elba’s announcement of his positive test.

Elba’s wife Sabrina Dhowre has not been tested yet but, given her close proximity to him in the video, it’s a safe bet to assume that at this point she probably has it too.

Idris Elba is only 47-years-old and thus not old enough to be in the high-risk of death group to get Coronavirus. And it’s a really good sign that after a week he still doesn’t have any symptoms.

Prince Charles Tests Positive For COVID-19

Coronavirus fame

Prince Charles, the would be King of England is 71-years-old and he has the Coronavirus. His age puts him in the most at-risk category for severe complications from the virus. His symptoms are said to be mild, currently.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla are self-quarantining at Birkhall in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Actually it’s Balmoral Castle and it looks like this…

Castle

Prince Charles wife Camilla has not tested positive for the Coronavirus yet.

Charles last had contact with the 93-year-old Queen of England on March 12, which means he could have been infected and contagious at the time. No word yet on the Queen’s status but people who care about the British Monarchy are extremely worried.

Daniel Dae Kim Is Beating COVID-19

Beating COVID-19

Lost and Hawaii Five-0 star Daniel Dae Kim tested positive for the Coronavirus. He’s already doing better though, thanks to the use of new experimental drugs which are slowly going into circulation at American hospitals.

In the following video he relays his experience…

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-BCcuygbmO/

Daniel Dae Kim is 51-years-old which puts him just outside the highest risk group for Coronavirus complications. He credits his quick recovery to the use of the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine Kim says, “Yes, this is the drug that the President mentioned the other day… It is also the drug that Dr. Anthony Fauci cautioned us about. He said that evidence that the drug was promising is anecdotal, and that is correct. It means it wasn’t studied, and it’s only based on personal accounts. Well add my name to those personal accounts, because I am feeling better.”

Harvey Weinstein Takes COVID-19 To Prison

Former studio executive Harvey Weinstein was recently convicted and sent to prison to serve a 23-year-sentence on rape and sexual assault charges. Now though, he has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Weinstein only entered the New York state prison system a little less than a week ago on March 18, and it’s believe he brought the Coronavirus in with him when he came. He’s currently being isolated at Wende Correctional Facility in Western New York, while his condition is evaluated and as a protection against infection by other inmates.

Prisons in New York state and in other places have been releasing inmates in order to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect at-risk prisoners. Given that Weinstein is classified as a violent offender, it’s unlikely he’d currently be eligible for a Coronavirus release.

Kristofer Hivju Tests Positive

Coronavirus positive

Actor Kristofer Hivju is probably best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones. He’s set to appear in The Witcher season 2 too, or at least we hope he will. Right now he’s in quarantine after testing positive for the Coronavirus.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9zvkEHBRjf/

Kristofer’s positive test results have now shut down The Witcher’s entire production. In response Netflix suspended work on the series for at least two weeks saying, “We paused production prior to becoming aware of this, but as a further precaution we will be closing production offices and Arborfield immediately and arranging for deep cleaning and disinfection. This means no one will have access to production offices or Arborfield during that time.

Olga Kurylenko Tests Positive For COVID-19

Actress Olga Kurylenko is probably best known for playing the Bond girl Camile Montes in Quantum of Solace. She’s been a in a lot of movies though, including an underrated favorite of mine, Oblivion, opposite Tom Cruise. She recently revealed that she has tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Now it sounds like she’s doing a lot better. Olga offered this update and photo of herself in quarantine on Instagram…

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-DPRf1ha-q/

This was her first update, revealing her positive test…

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9w1fGQhllp/

Olga Kurylenko is only 40-years-old and thus well outside the danger zone in age (at least given what little we know so far) for people who get COVID-19. The Ukrainian-born French actress should be totally fine, but there are still a lot of unknowns around the Coronavirus. She’ll have to stay locked up till then and it sounds like her symptoms aren’t much fun. Send her some good thoughts.

CORONAVIRUS HOAXES

Not everyone the internet claims as a COVID-19 sufferer actually has it. These are the famous people who’ve debunked rumors that they’ve been stricken with Coronavirus.

Daniel Radcliffe Debunked

Rumors have been circulating that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who is currently in Australia, has contracted the Coronavirus. The rumors are likely due to the fact that other noteworthy celebrities currently in the country have tested positive or are being tested for it. Radcliffe addressed those rumors on an Australian radio show

“I walked into the hair and makeup room on the play yesterday, and the makeup artist was like, ‘My niece has just texted me and told me you’ve got corona,’” he said. “I was like, ‘What?’ He showed me a tweet, and it was like, ‘Daniel Radcliffe becomes the first famous person to contract coronavirus. I think it’s just because I look ill all the time so you can believably say it about me ’cause I’m very pale,” he continued. “That’s the internet. Flattered they chose me.”

Jackie Chan Debunked

Recently rumors began circulating which indicated that famed actor and stuntman Jackie Chan might have the Coronavirus. The idea that he might be under quarantine somewhere in China became so pervasive that Chan himself was finally forced to respond. He issued the following statement…

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9EUcdplVsc/?

Going further Chan added the following via Weibo…

“Recently, my staff told be about the news that’s been circulating around the world, saying that I’ve been placed under quarantine for COVID-19. Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for everybody’s concern! I’m very healthy and safe, and haven’t been quarantined. I’ve received many messages from friends asking if I’m ok. Your love and concern is so heartwarming. Thank you! I’ve also received some very special gifts from fans all over the world during this very difficult time. Thank you for the face masks. Your thoughtfulness is well received! And I’ve asked my lovely staff to donate your kindness through official organizations to those who need it most.”

Positive Celebrity Messages

Adam Sandler’s Quarantine Song

Adam Sandler’s comedic genius is inconsistent at best when it comes to making movies, but it’s almost unquestionably great when it comes to making silly songs about unusual topics. Lunch Lady Land, Red Hooded Sweatshirt, and The Hanukkah Song are classics. Now here’s another one to add to his resume: The Quarantine Song.

Adam Sandler is right. Having him teach his kids math definitely cannot be good for America.

Neil deGrasse Tyson On The Test Of COVID-19

Noted scientist and science educator Neil deGrasse Tyson has decided to speak out on what he sees as a test of humanity in the Coronavirus.

Talking to the Gazette he says, “To me, this was an experiment in whether people understand the importance of listening to scientists. In this case, medical professions. There comes a time when you don’t have the luxury to pick and choose what you want to believe and reject what you don’t want to believe. If we come through this on the other side, it’s because people listen to the advice of science professionals. That’s how I view this.

It should be no surprise that Tyson would come down on the side of believing the experts, whoever those might be. Of course that doesn’t help Americans figure out which experts to listen to, in a world where doctors and economists are advising opposite things.

Neil sees the same things driving us all apart and says, “To me, this is a great experiment going on in real time. Can the world say to itself, ‘We have a common enemy. That enemy is not each other. The enemy is this invader to our species. It’s a virus.’ All the other reasons we would find to kill each other, because of skin color or who we worship or what line in the sand you happen to live on, across whatever line you live on, all these differences really look petty compared with confronting a common viral enemy.

Dr. Tyson thinks we all have no choice: “The cooperation is necessary because we all travel. That’s one of the great features of modern civilization. There are no pockets of people living unto themselves anymore. We all communicate, practically to every corner of the planet.

William Shatner Files Captain’s Logs From Quarantine

Coronavirus log

William Shatner is 89-years-old but he’s still every bit the Captain Kirk he’s always been. Due to his age putting him at greater risk from the Coronavirus than the average, he’s currently living in self-imposed quarantine. But he’s making the best of it by filing daily Captain’s Logs from his isolation.

His quarantine begins. At least he has some company.

At least his dogs appreciate having him home.

And apparently the dogs are already sick of him.

Stay in your ship Captain and stay safe.

Mel Brooks Says Go Home

Mel Brooks doesn’t have the Coronavirus yet, at least not as far as we know. But the comedy legend is 93-years-old and that means for him and most other people his age, getting COVID-19 could be a death sentence.

So Mel teamed up with his son Max Brooks to bring you this important message…

CELEBRITIES REFUSING QUARANTINE

Evangeline Lilly

Celebrity quarantine

Currently Coronavirus quarantines are, in most parts of the United States, voluntary. And some people, no matter how great the risk may be to themselves or others, aren’t going to voluntarily give up their freedom. Actress Evangeline Lilly is one of those people.

Now it looks like Evangeline Lilly’s comments may end up costing her work. She was supposed to co-star in the upcoming Marvel movie Ant-Man 3 alongside Paul Rudd, but now word is that her role in the film may be reduced.

Due in part to outraged comments from fans, Marvel is reportedly considering cutting her screentime in Ant-Man 3. A response like this (or even more severe) from them would be in line with the way they’ve responded to past Twitter outrage. Remember James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3 for something he said on Twitter years ago, when people found it and raised a ruckus.

Coronavirus Connections

Tangled Predicted The Coronavirus

The 2010 movie Tangled is a retelling of the tale of Rapunzel about a girl locked away in a tower until she climbs out on her hair. But it’s not just the fact that she’s in quarantine that makes Tangled predictive of the Coronavirus…

We are indeed living in a Tangled world. Let’s hope it doesn’t last 16 years.
