Letitia Wright looks to be all set to take on the mantle of Black Panther in the upcoming sequel. After the tragic and sudden death of Chadwick Boseman, speculation ran rampant about how the character would continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, reports kept coming in that Shuri would be stepping up to the plate as the new iteration of the superhero. However, the actress has stirred up a wave of controversy due to some of her opinions and behavior on social media, and fans are now calling for her to be removed from Black Panther 2.

In a now-deleted tweet, Letitia Wright shared a video that cast doubts about the COVID-19 vaccine. The video is from On the Table, a YouTube channel that does not seem to be founded in scientific research or peer-reviewed science. If you so choose, you can watch the hour-long video yourself right here:

After sharing this video on her Twitter account, a large number of Twitter users descended upon Letitia Wright and criticized her for using her platform to spread disinformation, anti-vaccination sentiments, and to discourage people from taking the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine. Naturally, this led to some calls to have her removed from Black Panther 2 and to even have the movie canceled entirely.

That led to a truly strange and fascinating development in the story. Twitter user @boss_htown replied to Letitia Wright calling for the cancellation of Black Panther 2. And what is somewhat bizarre is that Wright liked the reply. Showing a form of support towards the axing of a major blockbuster that you are planned to star in is some truly befuddling behavior from the actress. You can see that entire exchange captured in this tweet below:

Now, Letitia Wright is claiming that she is being “cancelled” for sharing this video and showcasing an opinion that seems to be doubting the vaccine.

Regardless of your feelings towards the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination in general, it is hard not to argue that Letitia Wright’s behavior regarding this whole situation is a touch odd. She continues to maintain that she did not share an opinion herself, but instead simply wanted to share the video and “ask questions” about the vaccine.

And it looks like Letitia Wright might realize the maelstrom she has walked into. She has posted another response on Twitter regarding the video where she seems to want to tamp down any potential negative reactions to her decision to share the video.

We have seen a similar story play out with Gina Carano and her opinions on anti-mask sentiments on social media. Fans are now attempting to get her removed from the next season of The Mandalorian. It seems clear that Letitia Wright is about to experience a similar wave of dissenting voices against her. It makes you wonder how much control studios might start exerting over certain celebrities’ social media accounts and social media behavior. If they continue to cause such controversy, the powers-that-be might try and figure out a way to silence these kinds of controversial opinions coming from their stars.

It is going to be interesting to see if this position from Letitia Wright affects her future in Black Panther 2 or not. We will have to keep our attention focused on this story in case anything else substantial from it develops.
